You will know:

  • Different species of native bees (without stinger).
  • Tasting of different types of honey and derivatives.
  • Types of beehives and their structure.
  • How honey is made from scratch.

Did you know: Bees are the biological engine of the planet. They pollinate a third of the food we consume and are the only ones capable of regenerating Andean forests. Without their pollination, our food web and ecosystems would collapse.

Native honey is not just a sweetener, it is true medicine of origin:

  • It gives us clean energy: It provides fast-absorbing sugars without the aggressive spikes of refined sugar
  • Cellular shield: Its high concentration of antioxidants and enzymes slows down aging.
  • Natural Antibiotic: Immune Support: Its potent antibacterial properties act as a natural shield, boosting your immune system and helping your body stay strong and resilient.

WHAT NOT TO BRING

  1. Fragrance-Free Zone: Please avoid wearing perfumes, lotions, or sweet creams. Floral, fruity, or intense scents confuse the bees. They might mistake you for a food source, or even worse, strong chemicals can block the hive’s natural communication signals.
  2. No Strong Chemical Repellents (DEET): The Chemical Impact: Using aggressive repellents right before approaching the hives causes a chemical shock to the bees. It disorients and irritates them, and most importantly, it can compromise the quality of the honey being produced that very day. Help us keep our honey pure and our bees calm.
  3. No Scented Sunscreens (Coconut, Vanilla, Fruits): Neutral Protection Only: To avoid chemical interference, please use scentless or dermatological sunblocks. Artificial odors disrupt the hive's natural labor.

Welcome to the world of native bees and the best honeys in the world. In this experience, you will live a unique sensory experience because you will get to know the incredible stingless bees (meliponas) up close. You will walk through trails surrounded by flora and fauna, and participate in a delicious honey tasting, where you will discover flavors and textures you didn't know existed. A relaxing plan, 100% safe for the whole family and perfect for connecting with the wisdom of the countryside.

The Activity step-by-Step:

  1. Reception and Acclimatization
  • The Welcome: Reception at the farm entrance with a local refreshing drink (e.g., cold herbal infusion or mild lemonade) to lower the travel temperature.
  • The Briefing técnico: The guide briefly explains the dynamics of the place. It is emphasized that the bees are stingless, bringing the tourist's anxiety down to zero, and the golden rules are given: slow movements, low voice, and do not touch the hives without authorization.
  1. Transition and Connection Ritual (30 minutes)
  • Interpretive Walk: Start of the short trail towards the forest. The guide does not just walk, but stops to show the specific flowers and resins that native bees feed on.
  • Sharpening the senses: Before entering the meliponary, there is a one-minute pause in absolute silence to listen to the buzzing of the forest and connect with the environment. This marks the transition from 'tourist' to 'mindful observer'.
  1. Immersion in the Meliponary (45 minutes)
  • Visual contact: Arrival at the hive area. The guide carefully uncaps the first wooden boxes.
  • Biological engineering: The radical difference between traditional beekeeping (hexagonal combs) and meliponiculture (delicate pots of dark cerumen) is shown to the client.
  • The species: A tour is made observing the behavior of some of the 14 species present, highlighting the famous 'Angelitas'.
  1. The Sensory Tasting 'Direct to the Palate' (30 minutes)
  • The climax of the tour: Using individual bamboo straws (or sterilized droppers), the guide extracts the ripe honey directly from the honeycomb pots (tiny containers where the bees store the honey) in front of the client.
  • Gustatory analysis: The tourist is guided to identify the complex notes of this honey in their palate: the acidity, the citrus and floral touches, and the natural fermentation. It is explained why this product is considered 'haute cuisine'.

  1. Local Gastronomy and Closing (30 minutes)
  • The pairing: Return to the social area or dining room of the farm. The artisanal snack is served, which pairs perfectly with the sweetness left in your mouth.
